Every year the World Economic Forum publishes The Global Gender Gap Report, which examines the gender gap in countries around the world. This year's report includes statistics for 144 countries. In order to make it into the report countries must have data available for a minimum of 12 indicators out of the 14 that make up the Index (see page 4).
This map shows the gender gap score per country based on averaging the country's individual scores in four areas: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment. Scores closer to one indicate more parity between genders, while scores closer to zero dispay countries with a greater disparity between genders.
