Wirrida Rail Siding is a new link in the world's iron supply chain. Built near a rich ore deposit in the Australian Outback, it opened in late 2012 and has been ramping up operations.

The siding is a transfer point where Arrium Ltd, the mine operator, moves ore to trains owned by Genesee & Wyoming Australia. The trains carry the ore south to the port of Whyalla, meeting the global shipping network.
